How much are car repayments on a new BMW M2?
Rear-wheel drive dynamics and a sonorous inline 6-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine give the smallest BMW M-car a really engaging driving experience. And, given the performance on offer, the M2 could even be said to offer fair value. So how much will it cost you to park one of these compact rockets under your carport?
BMW M’s junior rocket packs a big punch
The first BMW M2 was only available until the end of 2018, when it was succeeded by the M2 Competition in all markets. Out went the original N55-derived single-turbo engine, and in came the F8x M3/M4’s twin-turbo power unit, along with suspension-, software- and cosmetic revisions to handle output hikes to the tune of 30 kW and 85 Nm. As with the original M2, there’s a choice between a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Recent (but limited-production) additions to the range are the two M2 CS variants, once again with the choice between manual- and automatic gearboxes. Outputs jump from the Competition’s 302 kW and 550 Nm to 331 kW and 550 Nm, thanks to the same power unit as you’d find in the old M3/M4 Competition.
Predictably, all M2 derivatives are very quick: the manual M2 Competition runs from 0 – 100 km/h in a claimed 4.4 seconds, dropping to 4.2 seconds for the automatic. The M2 CS is claimed to do the same sprint in 4.0 seconds, while the automatic should only take 3.8 seconds. Such performance doesn’t come cheaply, though, although other M-cars are even much more expensive...

How much would a new BMW M2 cost you every month?
We ran the numbers on the entire model range, to determine how deep a dent it would make in your monthly budget. We consulted the current price list to get the base price (including carbon tax) of each model, and then calculated their monthly instalments with the AutoTrader Car Finance Calculator. These calculated instalments use the base price, paid off over 72 months, at an interest rate of 13% with a 10% deposit, but obviously excludes the vast array of optional extras you could order for your M2.
There is no balloon payment structured into this agreement, and the finance package excludes administration fees and on-the-road costs. Naturally, individual profiles will vary, and interest rates will be awarded according to credit history. On top of these repayments, buyers must also budget for additional expenses: fuel, insurance, and maintenance. These will all vary, depending on individual circumstances.
