Exactly how quick and powerful is the Tank 500 HEV?

Thinking about a Tank 500 or just want to get your facts straight? We reviewed the Tank 500 HEV recently, and we were impressed by its performance. A 2.0-litre turbo-petrol may not sound like much in such a large body, but swift performance is guaranteed thanks to the addition of an electric motor.

Just remember that it's a very heavy vehicle, and fuel consumption will most likely be considerably higher than GWM suggests.

It's big, but does it have enough power?

"Under the hood, the TANK 500 is powered by a direct-injection, 2.0-litre turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol engine combined with the latest electric driving technology to produce 255kW of power and 648 Nm of torque. Despite its robust 2,605kg weight, this SUV can tow up to 2.5 tonnes and accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 8.3 seconds. The TANK 500's advanced 9-speed automatic gearbox, combined with 11 All-Terrain driving modes (including Sports, Snow, Sand, Rock, and Expert), ensures that it can handle any terrain." - GWM South Africa
