Four extras you should fit on a used Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace
In the new-car price lists, the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace plays in a rather expensive market segment. But, as is the way with almost all cars, used examples can be found for quite a lot less money. What extras should you fit to a used Tiguan Allspace, to maximise its utility, protect its value, and add your individual touch? We hunted down four must-have extras for this mid-level SUV.
New Tiguans can be had with a huge variety of factory-fitted optional extras, and most of them cannot be retrofitted at the dealership. We’re talking about major things like a panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control or OEM infotainment systems, as many of these systems rely on inter-connected, factory-fitted systems, and retrofitting those will cost a huge pile of money (if you can find a dealership willing to even tackle those jobs, that is). But there are a number of other, smaller upgrades with which your local dealership will be more than happy to assist.

1. Floor mats
Many people discount the importance of fitting a good set of floor mats: not only will they make it easier to keep your car clean, but they will also boost resale value by protecting the plush carpeting underneath. Volkswagen offers a choice between weatherproof- or textile floor mats for the Tiguan, and they’re all tailored to fit snugly in the footwells.

For exactly the same reasons as fitting OEM floormats, you should also invest in a boot tray. But, not only will this tray protect the luggage compartment floor, but it will also assist in keeping loose items from sliding about the boot.

3. Load lip protection
Volkswagen offers various for protecting the upper surface of the rear bumper (also known as the load lip). These range from replaceable transparent film to chrome- or stainless-steel items, but they share a common purpose: keeping errant luggage from scratching the paintwork of the rear bumper. Yet again, this add-on will help preserve resale value, because it will assist your efforts to keep your Tiguan Allspace in perfect nick – without any nicks to the rear end.
