Is the Suzuki Ciaz a good car?
We love the Suzuki brand and the Ciaz is no exception. Yes, it is a good car.
Who is the Suzuki Ciaz a good car for?
The Suzuki Ciaz is a good car for families or anyone who wants a reliable, spacious and inexpensive car with a sufficient amount of creature comforts and onboard tech.
Is the Suzuki Ciaz a good first car?
It's a great first car but is probably slightly over budget for first-time car buyers, who should certainly look into buying a pre-loved Ciaz or a Suzuki Dzire sedan or a Baleno hatch. If money is tight, the Suzuki Celerio is one of the best new small cars in the entry-level market.
Is the Suzuki Ciaz a good family car?
It's perfect for families - sedans have become so underrated, but they offer plenty of value and especially boot space! The Ciaz has 480 litres of it, which is more than the Polo sedan's boot. Its safety features are as follows, according to Suzuki SA:
In Suzuki tradition, all models feature the same dynamic and passive safety systems. In the Ciaz, this includes airbags for the driver and front passenger, ABS brakes with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and brake assistance (BAS) and the addition of a high-level brake light.

Is there a Suzuki Ciaz hybrid model?
No, with no plans of adding one in the near future.

What’s it like to drive?
Reviewer's opinion
The Ciaz's new non-turbo 1.5-litre engine is refined and feels more punchy than its 77kW figure suggests. Mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, it's perfect for city driving, and not even at highway speeds did I feel frustration at the lack of a sixth gear. I did miss hill-start assist when pulling away at Cape Town's steep inclines, though.

What does it look like?
Exterior
What is the Suzuki Ciaz like inside?
The Ciaz's interior is functional and uncluttered, and the build quality is on par for the price. We love the leather seats in the GLX model.
Tech and convenience features
There's a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay in the GLX model, and a 4.2-inch colour information display in the vehicle instrument cluster (all models). This screen displays important driving information such as range, fuel consumption and outside temperature and is standard on both specification levels.
The Ciaz GLX now offers cruise control as standard. It also has automatic climate control, electrically folding side mirrors, combination leather upholstery, integrated lighting in the footwells, individual rear reading lights and a retractable rear sunshade. The remote central locking system of the GL models remains, while the GLX model is upgraded to keyless access with a Start/Stop button.
The GLX models build on the generous specification level of the GL models, which includes electric windows, remote central locking, manual air conditioning, steering mounted audio controls, a centre armrest with integrated storage, rear air conditioning vents and an additional 12V socket for the back-seat passengers.
