Is the Opel Corsa a good car?

The newest and current generation Corsa not only rely on the development and experience of Opel but many automakers within the Stellantis group. With the shared experience and technology, the little German hatch is without a doubt a good car.

Who is the Opel Corsa a good car for?

The Opel Corsa is a good car for younger individuals or couples looking for a competent but stylish hatchback to do the daily commute with or even take the occasional trip.

Is the Opel Corsa a good first car?

The Opel Corsa comes in a stylish but compact package, making it easier for new drivers to get accustomed to. Not only that but even in its base specification, the model comes with a host of standard safety systems such as ABS brakes with electronic brake assist, traction and stability control as well as hill-start assist to assist new drivers on their journeys.

Is the Opel Corsa a good family car?

With a respectable 309-litres of boot space and no less than six airbags as standard equipment, the Opel Corsa will make for a good choice for discerning new parents. However, for larger families, the model might be a little too small for comfort in which case the Grandland X might be a better option.

Is there a Hybrid Opel Corsa?

At this point in time, customers only have a choice between naturally-aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines. While a Corsa-e variant exists overseas, the hybrid model has not yet made its local debut at the time of writing this article.

What’s it like to drive?

Reviewer's opinion

Despite the 6-speed auto gearbox occasionally hunting for the correct gear, the Corsa's ride and handling are hard to fault. It's decidedly nippy and nimble too, but never harsh over irregularities on the road surface. For us, this made the Corsa ideal for the daily school or shopping run and the occasional spirited drive from the airport via twisty Clarence Drive. Nobody wants to live with rock-hard suspension seven days of the week, but a good power-to-weight ratio is never to be sneezed at.

Exterior

Interior

What is the Opel Corsa like inside?

While Opel has kept the interior colour scheme monotone, the variety of textures and styling elements results in a premium feel. Opel also opted to make the headliner a lighter colour which gives a more airy feel to the interior. The 7.0-inch Intellilink infotainment system found in the Elegance variant and compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is clear and intuitive to use and also serve as the reverse camera display screen. In combination with the digital instrument cluster, the entire setup provides drivers with a connected feel.

Style

While on the exterior, the Corsa certainly sets itself apart from the competition, the interior is much more reserved in terms of design. The overall design of the vehicle results in a stylish and modern option for customers while the reserved approach on the interior means that the model will age better.
