Is the Kia Pegas a good car?
Compact sedans may not be the most popular body style on the market but that doesn't mean that there isn't a market for them. A handful of players are still presenting offerings and finding great niches in the rental, e-hailing, and private sectors. The newer Kia Pegas offers an affordable mode of transport with generous luggage capacity, ideal for those that don't want an SUV, and find the luxury sedan a little too dear.
Who is the Kia Pegas a good car for?
The Kia Pegas caters for customers who require a little more space than they would find in your typical hatchback. Those that are weary of the size of an SUV and more comfortable with a compact sedan will gravitate towards vehicles like the Pegas. Its affordable nature and ease of use mean that inexperienced drivers will not be intimidated either.
Is the Kia Pegas a good first car?
Indeed, first-time car owners or novice drivers shouldn't shy away from the Kia Pegas. The affordable nature of the vehicle, both in terms of purchase price and running costs, should be welcomed by those starting out. The Pegas is also covered by a 5-year / Unlimited km warranty.
Is the Kia Pegas a good family car?
The Pegas was designed to be just that. While there are more spacious vehicles on the market, the four-door design and large boot mean that families with children right from newborn to high school will find the Pegas agreeable and versatile. The Pegas offers you 475 litres of boot space and seating for 5.
Is there a Hybrid Kia Pegas?
The Pegas is only offered with a single engine option, a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with no hybrid option available.

What’s it like to drive?
Reviewer's opinion
"Driving the newcomer around Johannesburg revealed a few things, firstly, that the gearbox and light clutch action make city driving its forte. The next thing that became apparent was that the light steering and massive body roll mean that while the Pegus is easy to hustle around town, it feels less adept at freeway speeds. The addition of cruise control was a nice feature in the EX, though, while the reverse camera came in handy when moving out of a tight spot on the driving route. These small specification additions really make a big difference in daily driving scenarios."

What is the Kia Pegas like inside?
If you're considering an affordable offering, you can't expect spills of luxury. This applies to the Pegas as well where many of the interior surfaces are constructed and finished in plastic rather than leather or alloy. The focus is on durability and affordability but the Pegas does manage to offer up some creature comforts so that you're not left disappointed. A multifunction wheel, infotainment system and artificial leather upholstery on the EX models help elevate the overall trim level.
Style
Compact sedans are usually guilty of placing function over form but the Kia Pegas manages to remains practical and effective while looking good. There's a traditional three-box design broken up by a handsome swage line and highlighted by the trademark Kia tiger nose grille element. When viewed from the rear, the Pegas still appears a little awkward but sporty elements like the sculpted boot lid help break what could be a cumbersome design.
