Is the Suzuki Swift Sport (2nd Gen) a good car?
The second-generation Suzuki Swift Sport was considered one of the last sporty hatchbacks to feature a high-revving naturally aspirated (non-turbo) engine. It's lightweight, agile, fun to drive and best of all, you drive it daily. What more could you want? That's what makes the second-generation Suzuki Swift Sport a good car. We'll refer to 'second generation' as '2nd Gen' going forward in this article.
Who is the Suzuki Swift Sport (2nd Gen) a good car for?
The 2nd Gen Sport is a good car for someone who wants a warm hatchback with some fizz and can tango on some winding roads. Not only that, the vehicle is capable enough to handle daily duties such as going to shops and the odd hardware shop visit.
Is the Suzuki Swift Sport (2nd Gen) a good first car?
The 2nd Gen Sport would make for a very nice first car and as an introduction to sports driving, but rather in the hands of someone responsible enough. Insurance costs may be high considering that this is considered a sports car.
Is the Suzuki Swift Sport (2nd Gen) a good family car?
The 2nd Gen Sport would be more suited to couples or small families. This vehicle is a compact hatchback and the boot area is rather small at 210-litres of luggage capacity. There are ISOFIX child seat anchors present though, while its general safety credentials are solid.
Is there a Hybrid Suzuki Swift Sport (2nd Gen)?
There was no hybrid version of this vehicle for sale in South Africa.

Interior
What is the Suzuki Swift Sport (2nd Gen) like inside?
The 2nd Gen Sport has slathers of black plastic in the interior. However, that is broken apart with subtle accents of thin silver trim and red stitching found in choice parts in the interior. A few of those choice parts include bucket seats with the 'Sport' badge embroidered into the backrest. You also get a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift boot with red stitching. The sports motif is present but subtle.
Style
The 2nd Gen Sport takes the normal Swift, adds projector headlamps, a redesigned front bumper including claw-shaped foglamp shrouds and a rear bumper with twin exhaust pipes. Wrapping up the rear are sportier taillights and a large rear spoiler. The Swift Sport adheres to the warm hatchback aesthetic rather than being outlandish.
Tech features
- Cruise Control (Prefacelift doesn't have)
- Bluetooth radio with USB (PreFacelift doesn't have Bluetooth)
- Electric windows all round
- Headlamp washers
- Keyless entry
