6 extras you should retrofit on a used Nissan Navara

We list and show six extras you can retrofit your used Nissan Navara without voiding the remaining warranty.

Buying a Car

Early in 2021, Nissan launched a modernised Navara model locally, introducing new styling and comfort upgrades to name a few. The model it replaces is far from being an ugly duckling, however, Nissan has developed a variety of accessories you can fit on a used Navara model to bolster its visual appeal.

While we will be focussing on the Urban Explorer catalogue in this article, Nissan does offer more rugged off-road inspired accessories which are both visually striking and functional. Let us jump in with more cosmetic items and work our way to the more functional items you can specify a used Navara with.

1. Wheels

One of the most noticeable extra you could fit your Navara is a new set of wheels. Offered in five designs, the optional wheels come in an 18-inch size finished in black. While you could opt to find a design at your local tyre fitment centre, these units were developed by Nissan keeping in mind the strength of the wheel and ultimately the safety of the vehicle occupants.

2. Bonnet guard and headlamp surrounds

Without breaking the bank, you can give your Navara a rugged look upfront. Fitted to the vehicle without having to drill holes, means that if you want to remove these optional items at a later stage, you can do so without having to worry about any subsequent repairs needed. Another added benefit of these extras is that they protect the vehicle's paint from stone chips and other debris.

3. Fender flares

If you would like to continue with the rugged look on the sides of the vehicle, Nissan offers customers fender flares. These are fitted using both adhesive strips and hidden mounting points which means that no holes need to be drilled. One of the key benefits is that they protect the paint finish on your fenders as you take on 4X4 routes.

4. Nudge bar

A nudge bar not only enhances the exterior styling of your vehicle but also protects your vehicle in smaller collisions. Fitted up front and protruding away from the front bumper, the nudge bar will absorb some of the forces experienced and protect the bumper and even more critical components such as the radiator.

5. Sports bar

Optionally available for the Navara is a sports bar that is fitted behind the cabin. While it certainly improves on the rugged look of the Navara, also doubles up as a tie-down accessory for when you want to secure items in the load bay. Although the sport bar is not created to be a weight-bearing item, it could add a little strength in the case of a roll-over.

6. Canopy

While having a tonneau cover or even a custom shutter lid fitted to your Navara, it doesn't allow the same luggage capacity as a canopy. Nissan offers two canopy variants, one created with fibreglass and another constructed from stainless steel for added security. Costumers can also have the canopies colour matched to their vehicle for that perfect look.
