6 extras you should fit on a new Volvo V90 Cross Country

Station wagons are some of the most underrated of vehicle types in the world. They offer the practicalities of an SUV but the styling and handling of a sedan. In the case of the Volvo V90 Cross Country, it even offers enough ground clearance to tackle dirt roads. We list six extras you can fit on a new Volvo V90 Cross Country that will bring it closer to perfection.

Buying a Car

The Volvo V90 Cross Country first became available in 2017 alongside the more city and suburban oriented V90 station wagon. The Scandinavian automaker applied a variety of updates on the 2020 model year of both variants. Locally customers only have access to the Cross Country variant which offers a raised ground clearance and more rugged bumpers and side skirtings for traversing rougher terrain.

The Volvo V90 Cross Country can be had in Momentum and Inscription trim levels. The Momentum trim levels offer customers a choice of two engines, a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder, petrol (T5) or a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder, diesel (D4). The higher tier Inscription derivatives offer both these engines as well as a more powerful 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder, diesel (D5) and a 2.0-litre, turbocharged and supercharged, 4-cylinder, petrol (T6).

While even in Momentum guise the Volvo V90 Cross Country will offer ample comfort, safety and space for the occupants, Volvo does offer a variety of extras that could just bolster the ownership experience even more. Here are six extras you can fit on your new Volvo V90 Cross Country.

1. iPad holder

While upfront you might be enjoying every kilometre behind the steering wheel, what about the occupants in the rear? Volvo offers an iPad holder that easily attaches to the headrest of the front seats that allows the rear occupants to enjoy content hands-free. With a pair of USB ports, the occupants at the rear can conveniently charge both their iPad and smartphone simultaneously. The slim design tablet holder is available in a dark Charcoal and lighter Blond colour, so it blends with the interior of the vehicle and can be easily removed when not in use.

2. Sunshade

While tinted windows will go a long way in keeping hot sunlight at bay, adding a set of clip-in sunshades will do wonders in removing any glare from the sunlight and will keep the rear occupants nice and cool. Believe it or not but having sunshades could even bolster your fuel consumption as you won't have to use the climate control system as much to cool down the cabin. The design also allow the windows to be operated with the shades in place.

3. Dirt cover

Although Volvo offers a rubberised matt that will perfectly fit the floor surface of the luggage bay, we would rather option the full dirt cover. This cover attaches to the sides and the back of the rear bench to fully cover the luggage compartment. Whether you are loading adventure gear or a pet, this cover will protect the upholstery in the luggage compartment from dirt, scratches or hair. Strategically incorporated into the design is zippers that will allow you to lower the rear seats without having to detach the cover. There is even a fold-out section that protects the rear bumper while loading or unloading.

4. Bicycle holder

While on the topic of adventure gear and luggage space, why not create more space in the luggage compartment by fitting a versatile bicycle holder? The bicycle holder fits onto the tow bar and allows for two bicycles to the carried at once. This holder allows the bicycles to be locked onto the holder while itself locks onto the tow bar, keeping your bicycles safe and secure. This unit also incorporates a handy tilt function giving the owner easy access to the luggage compartment.

5. Alloy wheels

Now you might be asking what about extras that will bolster the styling? Volvo offers a variety of alloy wheel designs that can be fitted to your new V90 Cross Country to bolster its appearance. The Volvo V90 Cross Country will accommodate wheel sizes of up to 21-inches.

6. Double integrated tailpipes

Although none of the engine options comes in a V-layout, it doesn't mean that the V90 Cross Country isn't sporty. The flagship T6 offering comes fitted with both a turbocharger and supercharger which creates enough power to have a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.3 seconds. With the optional double integrated tailpipes, you can showcase the sporty nature of the station wagon elegantly. The tailpipes are made from chromed stainless steel to match the insert in the car’s rear diffuser.
