5 extras you should retrofit on a used Citroen C5 Aircross

Buying a used vehicle means that you only get what the first owner specified from the manufacturer. However, often there are extras or accessories available from the automaker that can be fitted after the fact. Here are five such extras you should retrofit on a used Citroen C5 Aircross.

The Citroen C5 Aircross was introduced locally towards the end of 2019 alongside the smaller C3 Aircross and C3 model ranges. As with all three of the new models, the C5 Aircross is offered in two trim levels namely Feel and Shine. The latter derivative is positioned as the flagship model and comes with all the bells and whistles.

While you will easily find both Feel and Shine specified Citroen C5 Aircross models on AutoTrader, you might wonder, is there any way you could even further bolster the trim and features to make it your own? The answer to that question is, yes you can. Below is a list of five extras we think you should fit that won't only make your Citroen C5 Aircross unique, but also bolster your ownership experience.

1. Alloy wheels

Although the standard wheels most certainly match the styling of the French offering, to make it your own, why not consider a new set on 19-inch alloy wheels. There are a variety of styles available for order from your nearest Citroen dealership and is one of the most cost-effective and quickest ways to transform the exterior look of your Citroen C5 Aircross.

2. Roof bars

Fitted as standard on the Citroen C5 Aircross are distinctive roof bars with colour touches to match the air bumps on the doors and air dams upfront. However, those are not just for aesthetics but is rather functional items. Optionally you can get a set of roof bars to slide onto these rails which will allow you to carry larger items or even fit optional bike or kayak carriers.

The roof bars are manufactured with anodised aluminium and are lockable by key at each base. Not only are the roof bars functional but will also give your C5 Aircross a more utilitarian appearance.

3. Tow bar

If the roof bars or up to 1 630-litres of boot space does not meet your transportation needs, you might have to consider attaching a trailer to the rear of the vehicle. For this you will need a tow bar, but what about when you don't need a trailer? Luckily for owners, the French automaker has developed a removable tow ball that easily attaches and detaches from the vehicle, without needing and tools.

4. Bike carrier

The optional tow bar is not only good for attaching trailers but also function as a mounting point for optional carriers. Thule has developed a variety of carriers with different capacities. The one pictured will allow owners to carry up to three bicycles provided that the total weight remains below 60 kg.

The carrier also offers a tilt function which allows owners to easily access the luggage compartment even with the carrier and three bicycles loaded. Included in the kit are locks that will allow you to lock the bicycles to the carrier and lock the carrier to the tow bar for additional security.

5. Seat cover

Another item to bolster your ownership experience is the optional, rear bench cover. This cover not only protects the seats but creates a cocoon-like barrier which assists in protecting the doors and the rear of the front seats. This allows owners to load their pets and know that the nails won't scratch or ear any materials in the rear compartment. It will also keep the seats from getting dirty from soil or hair.
