5 extras you should fit on a new Suzuki Swift

Just because a car is inexpensive doesn’t mean that it has to be dull, as the Suzuki Swift has been demonstrating for more than a decade. If you’re considering a new Swift, you may want to add some of these Suzuki-approved extras to give it your personal touch as well.

Buying a Car

Seeing as we’re talking about a new Suzuki Swift here, we’ll confine ourselves to genuine Suzuki accessories, because delving into the aftermarket with a new car may have an effect its warranty. Fortunately, Suzuki SA offers some nice add-ons to liven-up a Swift, so the chances are that your personalisation preferences may just be met on the dealership floor.

1. Mud flaps

This should be the first item you fit to any car, really, because it will help protect your car’s side sills and undercarriage against stone chip damage. The OEM Suzuki mud flaps are rigid and paintable, and are styled to compliment the car’s looks as well as improve body protection.

2. Boot mat

A overlay boot mat will protect the standard luggage floor cover against stains and tears, and thus help preserve your Swift’s resale value. This particular mat is flexible, but if you ask really nicely (or are prepared to order one from overseas), you can get a rubberised bin liner to provide partial protection for the boot’s side panels as well.

3. Centre armrest

Suzuki offers two add-on centre armrests for the Swift, both designed to fit neatly onto the rear end of the standard centre console. The nicest one of the two is height- and length-adjustable, and incorporates a storage compartment under a flip-up cover. This will be ideal to ensure long-distance driving comfort, while further improving on your Swift’s in-cabin stowage space.

4. Bumper corner protection

Another way to protect your Swift’s resale value is by fitting these corner protection strips. Designed to follow the bumper’s contours, these simple stick-on strips helps protect against parking lot scratches, and will keep your car’s bumpers blemish-free for longer.

5. Side sill kit

Is your 1.2-litre Swift sitting a bit too far off the ground for your liking? These side sills will make a world of difference to the Swift’s styling, by adding some visual aggression to car’s side profile and optically lowering the car’s bodywork. These side sills are supplied with paint primer already applied, making it easier to colour code them. You could even have them painted in a contrasting colour if you really want your Swift to stand out in a crowd.
