Volvo On Call is a built-in assistance system with an app, allowing remote control of your Volvo. With this app you can now remotely lock or unlock the doors of your car, check the fuel level from your bed/office desk, and cool or heat the car before you get in. All these features can be accessed from your smartphone, smartwatch, tablet or desktop.
Not only does this app give Volvo drivers control over their car’s functions, but it also provides access to a world of convenient services.
Managing Director of Volvo Car South Africa, Greg Maruszewski, explains that, with Volvo On Call, a car becomes far more than just a means of travel. “It becomes your personal assistant. It can tell you about the best coffee spots in town and send the destination to your car’s navigation system. It knows when you have appointments, where they are, and how to get you there,” he reveals.
Safety Features
Volvo says South African motorists will particularly appreciate the associated safety and security benefits that come with this app. Like when you forget to lock your car, the app will send you a notification message, or if you’re involved in an accident, the Volvo On Call system will automatically contact emergency services and send them your location.
Find my car
What about when you’ve lost your Volvo in a massive parking lot? That’s no problem either. The Volvo On Call app will show you the location of your car on a high-definition map, and give you directions to reach it. Through the app, you can also ask your car to hoot and/or flash for five seconds to identify itself in order for you to find it.
"Send to Car"
If your car is equipped with Volvo's navigation system then you can use the Volvo On Call app to send a destination (e.g. hotels, shops, cinemas, restaurants, petrol stations) straight to your Volvo to make the destination available in the navigation system.
WiFi hotspot
Furthermore, Volvo On Call includes the ability to provide an in-car WiFi hotspot, allowing you to stream music and films to the car’s infotainment system.
Free for 5 years!
The Swedish automaker is fitting this system as a standard feature to all locally sold Volvo cars from the model year 2020. Use of the system will be free of charge for the first five years, thereafter, it can be extended for a small fee.
Volvo is also giving drivers of other vehicles a chance to try out this app for free, simply download Volvo On Call and you can test the app out in demo mode.
