Toyota South Africa has revealed an updated version of its locally-built Corolla Cross. The GR-S HEV, which combines the Gazoo Racing (GR) aesthetic with the tax-friendly efficiency of a hybrid, has received a host of updates.
What makes it a GR-S?
• New GR-S Exterior Design: A more assertive front-end treatment with a signature mesh grille and revised bumper styling ensures it won't be mistaken for the standard XR trim.
• Bespoke 18-inch GR-S Alloy Wheels: These wheels are unique to the grade.
• Sporty Interior DNA: Inside, you get GR-S interior branding, aluminium pedals, and the standout feature—GR-S red seatbelts—that add a much-needed pop of colour to the cabin.
• Mechanical Tweaks: While not a full-blown GR performance model, the GR-S benefits from revised suspension tuning for a slightly firmer, more responsive feel through the corners.
