Topping up the screen wash bottle on a McLaren 675LT

Topping up the windscreen washer bottle on a McLaren 675LT is easy if you follow our step-by-step guide. The difficult part is sweet-talking your bank manger into financing one!

Automotive News

The McLaren 675LT is a multi-million rand supercar with a sub-three-second zero to 100 km/h sprint time. It runs a 496 kW turbocharged  V8 engine with a seven-speed gearbox, driving the rear wheels. Top speed is rated at around the 330 km/h mark.

In mid-2017 the 675LT model was discontinued, and now the top model in the McLaren range here is the 720S with an even higher top speed of 341 km/h! There are still some pristine used examples in South Africa of the 675LT and one of them is for sale at the South African agents, Daytona, located in Melrose Arch Johannesburg. We photographed this  immaculate used 675LT on their showroom floor.

There are over 30 McLarens for sale currently used in AutoTrader.  Simply click McLaren to see the array of beautiful supercars on offer.

You need clear vision in a McLaren

In a car this quick, it is even more important that you have a clear view of the road up ahead. Thus it is vital to keep the screen washer bottle topped up, which is a simple maintenance job you can do yourself.

Topping up the screen washer bottle.

1. The screen washer is located in the luggage compartment to the front of the car (the engine in a McLaren is mid-mounted, accessed at the rear). Open the front-luggage compartment using a button on the McLaren key remote.

2. The screen washer bottle is identified by its blue cap with a screen-wipe logo on top of this cap. It is located to the right of the luggage compartment close to the windscreen, and just ahead of the power steering fluid container.

3. Opening the screen washer bottle is simple. You simply flip up the blue lid using a small tab.

4. Top up the washer fluid bottle slowly until you see the fluid level rise close to the top. Don’t overfill it, as you don’t want to splash that immaculate luggage compartment!

5. Daytona recommends using straight water for the screen washer, or adding just a tiny amount of liquid detergent.

6. Replace the cap, close the luggage lid carefully and test the washer system on the wiper stalk.
