Ford Approved brand revitalised in South Africa

Ford Southern Africa has consolidated and revitalised its used car sales division under the Ford Approved banner, with the focus on providing exceptional service and quality. Ford Approved is geared to fulfil the needs of customers throughout their ownership experience, from purchasing an approved pre-owned vehicle at a Ford dealer to ultimately trading it in on a newer replacement vehicle further down the line.

 

I'm not crying, you are!

Launched in June 2020, Volkswagen's Drive Local campaign is an endorsement of the brand's commitment to help South Africans recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. The Drive Local concept was brought to life in an optimistic and heart-warming television commercial. The story is set in a small town in a post-lockdown South Africa; cars are rolling off the assembly line and the country is slowly coming alive. The vehicles seen arriving in a forgotten little town are a physical manifestation of the goodwill and optimism rippling across South Africa. Everyone is adjusting to a world where social distancing is the new normal, but the advert depicts a story of South African resilience and support for one another and it's a tearjerker!

 

Volvo releases global sales figures

While sales fell in absolute numbers during the first half of the year, Volvo Cars took market share in China, the US and Europe, where Germany was among the strongest-performing markets. Volvo Cars’ global sales during the first six months of 2020 fell by 20.8 per cent to 269,962 cars, as governments in many key markets implemented stay-at-home orders or other restrictions on movement, severely affecting economic activity and showroom traffic.

 

Hyundai's Venue now available in a Limited Edition

The Venue Limited Edition - available in three variants with a choice between the Fluid and Glide specification levels - joins the rest of the range that was launched at the end of 2019 as Hyundai's new small sports utility vehicle. Only 500 units of the Limited Edition, which has a white roof paired with a blue body colour for its exterior looks, are being imported. The interior, sporting a beige colour theme paired with denim cloth and leather, also sets it apart from the other variants in the Venue range.

 

License validity extended to January 2021 for SA motorists

In a message on Twitter, the official @RTMC handle tweeted the directives which state: “All learner’s license, driving licence cards, temporary driving license and professional driving permits that expire during the period that commenced from 26 March 2020 up to and including 31 August 2020 are deemed to be valid and their validity period is extended for a further grace period ending 31 January 2021”.

Vehicle licence discs, temporary permits and roadworthy certificates that expired during the same period are valid until 31 August.

 

Jaguar Land Rover develops contactless touchscreen

New contactless touchscreen technology developed by Jaguar Land Rover and the University of Cambridge will help keep drivers’ eyes on the road and reduce the spread of bacteria and viruses in a post-COVID-19 world. The patented technology, known as ‛predictive touch’, uses artificial intelligence and sensors to predict a user’s intended target on the touchscreen – whether that’s satellite navigation, temperature controls or entertainment settings – without touching a button. 

 

New KIA Sonet makes its global debut

The Sonet concept was unveiled for the first time at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo to widespread acclaim, thanks to its fresh exterior design. With the new image released today, the Sonet aims to set new design benchmarks and inject a new dynamism in the compact SUV segment when it is revealed later this summer. Manufactured in India, the Sonet is set to take on the likes of Hyundais Venue and should arrive in SA in late 2020.

 

Mahindra TUV300 gets a facelift

Mahindra's bold TUV300 is now even bolder thanks to mid-life design and specification upgrade. The new model, which is now available at Mahindra dealers across South Africa, features an updated front-end design and redesigned rear light cluster and rear spare wheel holder. It is initially only available in the top specification T8 model at R254 999.
