If you’re planning on giving the pope a present, what would it be? Lamborghini gifted the pope with a Vatican-inspired,Huracán RWD Coupé in November last year.  Was the pope ever going to drive it? Probably not. But the Popemobile will fetch a pretty penny when it’s auctioned off by Sotheby’s on May 12th.

According to the Sotheby’s listing, “all proceeds from the sale of this Huracán RWD Coupé will be delivered directly to the Holy Father, who shall allocate the proceeds as follows: 70% to the city of Nineveh, Iraq (a city heavily attacked and besieged by ISIS), 10% to ‘Amici per il Centrafrica Onlus’, 10% to Groupe International Chirurgiens Amis de la Main (GICAM) and 10% to the Pope John XXIII Community Association.”

Pope Francis’ special edition supercar is painted in “Bianco Monocerus” or Celestial White, with gold detailing that matches the piping on the Pope’s white cassock, and the Vatican City flag. The sumptuous white leather seats are finished off with yellow topstitching, while a one-of-a-kind set of silver and black 20-inch wheels (with Nero brake callipers) add to the visual appeal. But the biggest selling point is probably the fact that His Holiness has blessed the car and put his signature on the hood.

The stunning Lambo has been in storage for a while, and is being sold as new. And its expected price? It will probably fetch in the region of 250 - 350 000 Euros - which equates to roughly  3.8 - 5.3 million bucks, or maybe even more! Either way, we’ll know soon enough.

If you had money to burn, would you buy the Popemobile? And would you actually drive it? Sadly, this beautiful piece of Italian engineering will probably end up in a collector’s castle, far away from the public eye.

In the meantime, feast your eyes on its heavenly curves...
