SVI Engineering is no stranger to making armoured vehicles in South Africa. They're known for making vehicles that can withstand some of the heaviest of arms, like assault rifles, if you need that protection. They've been around since 2004 and are one of the popular choices for armoured vehicles locally.

Cue the latest Land Cruiser Prado. We attended the launch recently, and it has proven to be a capable offroad machine and a quality SUV for day-to-day usage. Now, what if you need comprehensive protection from unscrupulous individuals? Well, SVI Engineering has the package for you.
SVI Engineering has developed new discreet packages for the J250 generation Land Cruiser Prado, offering the highest grade of civilian-vehicle armour available without needing a special permit. The packages provide comprehensive protection against AK47, R1, R5 and even assault rifles. You'll find 360 protection developed to work with the TNGA-F base. The kits feature custom fabrication, including steel plates, high-grade 38mm ballistic glass curved to match OEM specs, and an armoured rear bulkhead with an escape hatch just behind the second row of seats in the B6 package. This was done to save on cost and mass. The vehicle's safety systems have also been considered and remain fully operational even after this conversion.
The previous-generation Land Cruiser Prado was a popular choice among SVI customers, with its robust ladder-frame chassis and reliable powertrain making it an ideal candidate for B6 armour. Considering the immense local interest in the new Prado – not to mention the various advancements over the preceding version – we have no doubt this latest model will likewise become a staple in our range.

The only standard modifications included in the package are a suspension upgrade and uprated door hinges. The 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine remains the same, as does the 8-speed automatic transmission, which has been deemed able to handle the extra weight.
