SA's 5 best-selling cars in June!

SA automotive industry leader naamsa released the sales figures for the local new vehicle segment, and the figures are surprising.

The results are in, and there were 46 810 new vehicles sold in South Africa in June 2023, an impressive 14% increase versus the same period in 2022. A deeper dive into the number reveals that passenger car sales are relatively flat, with a 0.8% increase, while light commercial sales increased some 57.1%. There were also 4 662 vehicles sold to rental companies, which will also have contributed to the inflated numbers. With all of the caveats out of the way, let's look at the top 5 best-selling vehicles in South Africa during June 2023!

The Top 5!

A common thread noted in the five best-selling cars in South Africa is that each is made locally! With that in mind let's look at the Top 5!

1. Toyota Hilux

With 3 792 units sold in June 2023, the Hilux was again comfortably the best-selling vehicle in the country, cementing its place as a firm local favourite.

2. Toyota Corolla Cross

With great pricing and a badge worth its weight in gold, the locally produced Corolla Cross is now the best-selling passenger car in the country on a consistent basis, with 2 115 units sold in June alone!

3. Ford Ranger

The new Ford Ranger has taken the bakkie segment to new heights in terms of technology and refinement, and the result is that it secured third place in the sales charts, with 2 099 units sold last month!

4. Volkswagen Polo Vivo

The Vivo was once the best-selling passenger car within the local market, and with 1 967 sales in June, it is hot on the heels of the Corolla Cross.

5. Isuzu D-Max

Another locally made model has made the top 5 in terms of vehicle sales, and its the Isuzu D-max, with 1 953 sales in June!
