New compact crossover model from Toyota headed for SA
Unveiled to the world at its launch in India, the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor became the sixth model to share a platform and styling with sister car brand Suzuki. Toyota South Africa today confirmed that this new model will be heading to South Africa and is yet unnamed, with no indications of pricing as yet.

This new model will share its platform and approximate styling with the very popular Suzuki Fronx, which took SA by storm last year. This new model will join the likes of the Baleno/Starlet, Rumion/Ertiga, Urban Cruiser/Grand Vitara, Vitz/Celerio, and previous generation Urban Cruiser/Vitara Brezza in the local lineup offering SA consumers even more choice.

What can be expected?
In terms of exterior design, the Urban Cruiser Taisor sports a striking front facade with a bold honeycomb mesh grille in gloss black finish, and this is complimented by twin LED DRLs and the iconic Toyota emblem at the centre. The rear design includes revamped LED taillights connected by a light bar on the boot, and this maintains the model's sleek appeal with its raked rear windscreen.
Inside the cabin, the Urban Cruiser Taisor offers a familiar yet refined ambience, featuring a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The cabin also boasts an array of features, including automatic climate control and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto.
If the same recipe is followed, we can expect a 1.5l petrol engine with manual and auto options with potential XS and XR trims. However, it is best if South Africans adopt a wait-and-see approach to this new model.
