Responding to what the brand says has been a "positive reception", Mitsubishi South Africa has broadened the Outlander lineup, offering five derivatives to cater to varying preferences and budgets.

Solid platform
Built on the Renault–Nissan CMF-CD platform shared with the likes of the Nissan X-Trail, four-wheel drive and hybrid powertrains were always on the table for this model, and the former is the first enhancement to reach local shores. The inclusion of four-wheel drive across the range and the expansion from two to five derivatives, including a new base model GL variant.
Powertrain
The Outlander is powered by a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 135kW and 245Nm, paired with a CVT transmission sending the power to all four wheels courtesy of the Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system.
Range walk
The GL is the new entry-level model, with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED day running lights, rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, heated door mirrors, heated seats, push start button, cruise control and a 7.0-inch driver display and an eight-inch SDA with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. The next up in the range is the GLS with 20-inch alloy wheels, a digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch screen, a power tailgate, keyless entry/start, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, headlight washer, front LED side turn signals and front LED fog lamps, three-zone automatic climate control and a rear USB port.
The GLS Plus adds the brand's Multi Around Monitor. At the same time, Aspire derivatives offer a panoramic sunroof, leather seats with seat memory, eight-way electrically adjustable seats (front), and a bigger 9.0-inch infotainment system. The flagship Exceed gets a wireless charger and a Bose premium sound system with 10 speakers.
