The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling bakkie in South Africa, it remains top of the list for those seeking a tough-as-nails yet comfortable and in most cases luxurious vehicle that can work the land and hit the town whenever needed. Car batteries need to be replaced every 2-3 years and when it comes time for the unit in your Hilux to be replaced we can show you how it's done.

Changing the battery is relatively easy, and we can show you how it's done in a step-by-step tutorial below

 

You will need:

 

  • New replacement battery for your model (correct amperage)
  • 13mm spanner, 13mm socket and wrench

 

 

Let's get started!

 

1. Open the bonnet

 

2. Remove the negative terminal using the 13mm spanner 

 

3. Remove the positive terminal using the 13mm

 

4. Use 13mm socket and wrench, remove the hold-down bracket

 

5. Exchange battery 

 

6. Assemble in reverse order.
