With the continued drive towards SUVs, Renault has axed many models from its local line up. Hathcbacks and sedans were the first to go with the elegant Fluence one of the first to see the chopping block. If you happen to own one of these French stunners you might be in need of a new car battery soon. When it comes to time to change yours , you can save yourself a few rand and tackle the exchange yourself.

No need to worry, we have a step-by-step guide for you to follow to get that battery changed all by yourself in a matter of minutes.

 

You will need:

  • New battery of correct amperage and size
  • 10mm wrench, 12mm socket and driver

 

 

Let's get started!

 

1. Open the bonnet

 

2. You will need to remove the cover to access the battery. 

 

3. Using the correct socket size(10mm), remove the negative terminal.

 

4. Remove the positive terminal.

 

5. Using the bigger socket(12mm), remove the hold down bracket.

 

6. Change out battery and replace everything in reverse order
