GR Cup headed to Aldo Scribante!

It's time for the fourth round of the 2024 GR Cup, where I'll be heading down to Gqeberha to take on the iconic Aldo Scribante Race Circuit!

It's already time for Round 4 of the 2024 GR Cup, which will take place this coming weekend at the Aldo Scribante Raceway in Gqeberha. Heading into the event with a 17 point lead, I am hoping to extend my advantage as we tip past the mid-point of the season!

Familiar opponents and a newcomer

I will be racing against Alex Shahini (CAR), Jaco van der Merwe (Citizen), Hannes Visser (La't Wiel), Kumbi Mtshakazi (Kumbi-M on Cars), Bernie Hellberg (Driven), and John Thomson, Toyota SA Motors' Vice-President for Future Toyota!

The track

The 2.480 km circuit features eight corners, usually leading to tight racing on an incredibly abrasive track known for chewing up tyres. The weather for the weekend is expected to be chilly, good for turbochargers, and, importantly, dry, so we'll have an ideal conditions!

Looking for an improvement

While I have started the season about as well as I could have hoped for, there's always room for improvement, and my mental game will be testing me this weekend after my last race here in 2022 yielded a disappointing fourth-place finish. While it's crucial to keep scoring points throughout the season, I have to approach the weekend believing I can win!

Health and fitness goals

As with many goals we set for ourselves, life tends to get in the way, and this is the exact excuse I've been using to neglect my commitment to losing weight and becoming more fit for the GR Cup. However, over the past six weeks, I've committed to my goals and have dropped 6 kilograms while improving my 5km running time, making me lighter and far more physically prepared for the rest of the season. At 78 kg I am now 6kg away from my goal weight, which I aim to reach by the final round in October.
