What is B4?
The package includes full 360-degree protection against handguns (up to a .44 Magnum) for the entire passenger compartment. It comprises 21 mm armoured glass shaped to original equipment standards and Kevlar sheets bonded to the bodywork. Other vulnerable areas, such as the pillars, are reinforced with armoured steel plates. Powertrain components are shielded by armour integrated into the front fenders, while certain elements under the bonnet also benefit from bullet-resistant protection.
Added weight
At 2 460kg, the standard Raptor is not lightweight. With the average B4 armour adding between 180 and 260kg, the roughly 10% increase in weight shouldn't blunt the performance too much, considering there's 292kW and 583Nm on offer. The Fox suspension system, the true hero of the show in the Raptor, has remained unchanged.
Price and lead time
The B4 armouring package for the Raptor is priced at R545 121 (excluding VAT and the cost of the vehicle itself). SVI offers roof armour, a PA system, heavy-duty run flat rings for the tyres, and security-specific features such as a siren and flashing lights. SVI claim a build time of approximately three months. The Raptor’s standard warranty and any selected service or maintenance plans remain unaffected. Additionally, the entire package – including the purchase of the Raptor and the armour cost – is eligible for financing through Ford Credit.
