Fast Facts

  • SVI completes B6 discreet armouring kit for the latest-generation Toyota Hilux double cab.

  • Offers 360-degree protection against assault rifles (including AK47, R1, and R5).

  • Integrates full ballistic overlaps across doors, windows, and windscreen.

  • B2 LITE and B4 discreet armouring options are also available.

Following the local debut of the latest Hilux, manufactured at Toyota's Prospecton plant in KwaZulu-Natal, SVI secured a flagship 2.8GD-6 Legend 4x4 double cab to develop a comprehensive, high-level protective solution.

"Though we've already delivered several units of the new Hilux fitted with our popular Stopgun V2.0 and V3.0 security kits, this is the first to feature our meticulously engineered 360-degree B6 discreet armouring package – and it's likely also the first such example in South Africa," said Nicol Louw, SVI Business Development Director.

B6 Discreet Armour

SVI’s B6 formula combines custom-fabricated armoured steel plates, composite materials, and 38 mm curved ballistic glass matching OEM specifications. Crucially, the build includes full ballistic overlaps around all door apertures, side windows, and the windscreen.

Because the high-grade steel panels are bonded directly to the interior sheet metal, the Hilux retains a virtually stock appearance from the outside.

Key functional and structural modifications include:

  • Driver Window: Lowers up to 150 mm using heavy-duty, custom actuators.

  • Suspension & Hinges: Includes heavy-duty suspension upgrades and reinforced door hinges to manage the additional weight.

  • Safety & Powertrain: All factory Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including sensors behind the windscreen, remain fully operational. Critical engine components receive added protection.

  • Performance: The standard 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine (150 kW and 500 Nm) and ladder-frame chassis effortlessly accommodate the added mass.

Pricing and Availability

The B6 discreet conversion for the Toyota Hilux double cab requires approximately 3 months of build time. SVI also offers B4 discreet (handgun protection up to .44 Magnum) and B2 LITE partial-armouring options.

Pricing breakdown (excluding VAT and base vehicle):

  • Hilux Double Cab B2 LITE (Partial Armour): From R74 950 per closure

  • Hilux Double Cab B4 Discreet Armour: From R624 054

  • Hilux Double Cab B6 Discreet Armour: From R945 239

Note: The B6 package includes a complimentary full-day driver-training course. Optional add-ons include roof and floor armour, as well as imported heavy-duty runflat tyre rings.
