Can you fit a pram inside a Ford Focus?

Parents of babies or toddlers looking to buy a used Ford Focus will need to know whether Junior's pram is going to be able to ride along. We take a look at its dimensions to find out if the Focus gets a nay or a yay.

Automotive News

The latest Focus models were introduced in 2015 and enjoyed their final local update in 2017 before disappearing around 2018. The discontinued Focus is still very much in demand, however.

In need of a Focus? You can search for used Ford Focus models with less than 100 000 km here.

How big is the Focus's boot?

The latest-generation Ford Focus hatch has a boot size of 316 litres which is about average for the segment, but not quite as spacious as contenders like the Volkswagen Golf, Opel Astra and Peugeot 308. Should you flatten the second row (it doesn't flatten completely, but enough), you'll have space for plenty more.

Will a baby stroller fit inside the Ford Focus hatch?

With all seats in an upward position, an average-sized stroller will fit into the boot, and there will be room to spare for groceries next to it. There is a bit of a lip you'll need to lift the stroller over, so just bear that in mind. Some prams are very bulky, so if you do plan on purchasing a Focus, we suggest taking your stroller along to the dealership, along with your baby seat to see how easy (or rather, how hard) it will be to install it. The Focus has ISOFIX anchorage points on the outer rear seats so you will need to install an ISOFIX base, but this is not something you need to do very often, at least!

Since we don't have any Ford Focuses on hand to put through their paces regarding the above, we suggest taking a look at this practicality review for a 2017 Ford Focus hatch here.

If you're really concerned about space, maybe the Ford Focus sedan is a better idea. There is considerably more room, but stroller height can be an issue in any car that isn't particularly high from the cargo area base to the ceiling. That is why high-riding SUVs are such hits with parents. The Ford EcoSport is one of the brand's bestsellers for obvious reasons, but the door has a side hinge which also has its challenges.

Verdict

The short answer is yes, an average-sized stroller will fit into the boot of a 2011 - 2018 Ford Focus hatch.
