There are few things in life that are more stressful that having had an accident and then going through the process of dealing with your finance house, insurance company and repairer, having the damage assessed and finally getting notified that the car has been written off.

Once your car has been written off, the insurer will settle with the finance house or pay out the value of the vehicle minus costs to you. You are then able to approach a dealership to purchase a replacement.
It is important to remember that if you are purchasing another vehicle, your accident history could affect your insurance premiums. Finance houses may also take a dim view of a client history littered with accidents, claims and write-offs making future finance agreements more difficult to obtain.
The best thing to do is to be a proactive defensive driver and drive safely and sensibly so that when an accident does occur you will be able to go through the insurance process and into a new set of wheels as quickly as possible.
