Electric vehicle (EV) drivers in South Africa have even more reason to hit the road! Audi South Africa, in collaboration with Rubicon, has added six new 150kW DC rapid chargers strategically positioned across the country.
This marks a significant investment, bringing Audi South Africa's total contribution to the national charging infrastructure to over R50 million since 2022. The new chargers add to the more than 120 DC and AC points previously installed with partners GridCars and Rubicon.

Convenient charging on major routes
The six ultra-fast chargers are situated along South Africa's key highways—the N1, N2, and N3—making them accessible for both city dwellers and long-distance travellers. Each charger boasts two ports, allowing for simultaneous charging.

Faster charging, more freedom
The 150kW power output delivers impressive charging speeds, cutting down charging time significantly so you reach your destination sooner. Audi says these DC chargers can charge an e-tron battery from 5 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes, weather permitting, of course. In our recent EV road trip in Volvo's EX30 Performance model (with a 69kWh battery, 64kWh usable), charging from 31 to 100 percent in 13-degree Celsius temperatures at Fleurdal Mall's 150kW charger in Bloemfontein took around an hour.
