New MINI Convertible – always on the sunny side with fun for four
MINI, as tradition-steeped British brand, continues its Convertible tradition by opening up the 4th iteration of the Convertible, which has been a part of the stable since the first Mini (now commonly referred to as classic Mini).

Optimised qualities and unmistakable design
Optimised qualities combined into one car include sportiness, comfort, functionality, safety, connectivity and quality of build in materials and craftmanship.
The unmistakable exterior design of the new MINI Convertible aims for a balance between top-class open-top elegance, and sporty flair. The new paintwork, Caribbean Aqua metallic, is seen for the first time on this new car, and it presents so well in this turquoise colour, off-set with the almost-white interior leather – looks very summer holiday in the caribbean.
The classic design traits like the round headlamps with chrome surround merges the traditional with modern style in full LED headlights.
MINI Yours with Union Jack motif woven roof
The new MINI Convertible roof is fully electric and now more quiet, and allows opening or closing of the roof and side windows in a fairly quick 18 seconds, up to a road speed of 30 km/h.
As part of the MINI Yours customer personalisation option, the soft top can be ordered with a unique Union Jack (flag of England) motif woven into the textile roof – who said you soft-top has to be just a solid colour. Such fun!
Hidden roll-over protection bars
Whereas the previous 2 generations of MINI Convertible (the BMW MINIs) had 2 large protruding roll-over hoops behind the rear seats, the new MINI Convertible sees a more open-car roadster feel, as the roll-over protection bars are now hidden out of sight, and only called into rapid action when needed.
More space and comfort
The new MINI Convertible creates more interior space, with a larger range of adjustment for the front seats, and more comfortable entry and longer seat base surface for rear passengers, which also get more defined single-seat shape for better lateral support.
Luggage volume has increased by about 25%, expanding to 160 litres with the roof open (roof stowed in boot) and 215 litres with the roof up. The rear also now comes with an Easy Load feature, which lets the tailpiece lift up, clamshell style, for easier access to the boot.
Model options
The new MINI Convertible will kick off with MINI Cooper Convertible using the 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo, and the MINI Cooper S Convertible with the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo. Both will be available in a choice of manual or automatic. From launch the sports kit with John Cooper Works looks will be offered, giving a sportier meaner look. A full John Cooper Works Convertible is in the pipeline, but no timing is made released yet.

All the very modern, safe, connected range of items introduced with the new generation MINI carries through to the Convertible, such as the pulsing red starter toggle switch, driving modes displaying in bright colours around the centre console ring, head-up display, automatic parking, MINI Touch Controller, and MINI Connected XL Journey Mate with real time traffic radar.
Other online-based services for the use of social networks as well as entertainment offers such as Spotify, AUPEO!, Stitcher, Deezer, Audible, Napster/Rhapsody, TuneIn and GoPro.
Other optional extras include the Always Open Timer with additional new display content, and the MINI Connected App including rain warning function – now that is useful in a convertible.
