The Panamera’s name derived from the ‘La Carrera Panamericana’ racing event that took place in the early 50s, it was one of the most famous auto racing events in history. The Carrera Panamericana race was an unmatched endurance test, whereby reliability over long distances were key over the speed factor. Porsche felt these characteristics best suited the new car and named it accordingly. The Panamera’s base model contains a 3.6-litre V6 delivering 228 kW and Porsche’s grippy and direct responses from the wheel are a given.
