Taking comments from Twitter followers he has promised the proposed vehicle will be something of a game changer with on-board power for tools an accessories so trades people could easily operate plasma cutters, band saws and the like, without needing generators or other external power.

“The Tesla Truck will have dual motor all-wheel drive with crazy torque and a suspension that dynamically adjusts for load. Those will be standard,” said Musk in a Tweet.

Musk also said the pickup would come with an optional battery that could enable a range in excess of 800 kilometres. Given the Model X crossover’s 470 kilometre range courtesy of a 100 kW/h battery, it is likely the Tesla truck will have an optional 200 kW/h unit.

The Tesla will also have a load-adjusting suspension, according to Musk. This feature will allow for easier loading and trailer hook-up, and it will lower the truck at freeway speeds for enhanced fuel economy and raise it for off-road ground clearance.
