Carry On
JMC South Africa has celebrated 10 years on our shores by unveiling two brand new vehicles for the SA market.
The all-new Carrying Plus and Vigus 5 commercial vehicles represent a renewed commitment by the Chinese firm to stay in the SA market and to continue to supply affordable, good quality products and increased growth for their dealers.
JMC has been something of a silent assassin here in SA, they quietly arrived, set up shop and began selling light commercial vehicles. Going from strength to strength, unless you were deeply involved in light commercial work, you would be hard pressed to notice their growing numbers.
JMC has become the 3rd largest supplier of light-duty commercial trucks in SA just behind Hyundai and KIA, cementing their commitment to the brand on African soil.
Carrying Plus
The feather in JMC’s cap is the Carrying light commercial truck. You have probably seen a great number of these plying our roads, often piloted by small business operators, construction companies and refrigerated delivery services.
The new Carrying continues with this theme but the vehicle has been completely refreshed and is now bigger, safer and more technically advanced than before.
Now sporting a wheelbase close to 6m in length, a width of over 2m and a load capacity of 4 tons the Carrying is now equipped to deal with the biggest load in its class.
The Carrying Plus is powered by an Isuzu derived diesel engine delivering 84kW and 310Nm and comes standard with ABS and an optional exhaust brake.
A bigger more open cabin can now seat three comfortably and the increased comfort and convenience means that drivers and passengers can now enjoy the drive as well.
The most surprising thing that most consumers are completely unaware of is that although JMC is a Chinese brand they outsource many of their parts from European suppliers.
Getrag supplies transmissions, Honeywell supplies turbochargers, Lear Automotive supplies the interiors, Valeo makes the clutches and Mahle supplies engine components.
This means that you are getting a Chinese made truck with European quality parts, a win-win situation in our books.

The Carrying plus will be available from your local JMC dealer in a number of guises, a drop side, a dump truck and an enclosed body style.
