What is a utility tractor?

The John Deere 6120M is a multipurpose tractor with a powerful four-cylinder engine; a maximum operating weight of 10,500kg and a maximum wheelbase of 2,550mm. It is relatively compact yet able to handle any situation.

1. Winning formula

As mentioned, the John Deere 6120M AutoPowr makes use of a powerful four cylinder motor in the form of the PowrTech EWS engine. It is a 4.5-litre power unit producing 90kW but is able to boost up to 108kW when needed. It also benefits from 562Nm of torque at 1 600rpm.

Adding to the impressive engine is the inclusion of the brand's improved stepless transmission which now features a minimum speed of 50m per hour. The transmission allows for a speed range of up to 40kph which can be reached at as little as 1 470rpm.

2. Lifting capabilities

The John Deere 6120M is fitted with a unique pressure and flow compensated hydraulic system with loading sensing capabilities. It is able to offer around  114l/per minute, with an independent hydrostatic steering pump which uses flow metering technology. The rear linkage can lift up to 5 700kg, while the optional front linkage can carry up to 4 400kg.

3. Ease of use

Ground clearance offered by the John Deere 6120M ranges from 364mm to 559mm depending on tyre size. The steering angle is rated at 52 degrees which enables a possible turning circle of 4.35m. The unladen weight is 6 000kg with a maximum operating weight of 10 450kg.

4. Interior comfort

In order to improve cabin comfort, the 6120M features mechanical cab suspension as standard fitment. This is further complemented by the in-house Triple Link Suspension hydro-pneumatic system on the front axle.

The cabin also comes with air conditioning and offers a noise level of just 70dB. Technological assistance is offered by the full John Deere precision farming technology suite which includes ISOBUS functionality, variable rate and section control, guidance systems and the JDLink fleet management.
