Who are HAV?
In order to understand who HAV is one must first understand what Proxecto is. Proxecto was established in 2015 as a multi-disciplinary design firm which has evolved into an "Out of the Box" solution for strategic and innovative design. Their HAV tractors were first introduced to the worlds press at Agritechnica in 1019 which was held in Germany. Ever since this introduction the company has created a buzz around their newly developed S1 Series tractor for the simple reason that it requires no battery packs.
What is the HAV S1 Series tractor?
The HAV S1 is the first made in India Hybrid Tractor with no battery packs. This dynamic tractor boasts over two dozen industry first features, introduced for the first time in Indian market.
“It has the power of an elephant and the characteristics of a dolphin which makes this a highly efficient need in today’s times. It was a conscious decision to launch this tractor first in India as it is specially made for the Indian farmers. Farming in India needs a revolution and this tractor, we believe, is an answer to most of the problems faced by any farmer in India.” Ankit Tyagi, MD Proxecto Engineering Services LLP & founder of HAV Tractors.
How is this relevant to South Africa?
Much of the economic practices in India are similar to that here in South Africa, especially farming. While many large scale farms are in operation and have various forms of financial assistance, there are rural areas where many smaller farmers operate. Some of these have no financial assistance or access to government help. Small, inexpensive and economical tractors such as the HAV S1 have many benefits for small scale farmers. As with many of the automotive products manufactured in India, Africa could see the importation of some of these and the African agricultural sector is growing rapidly. Investment from these India based companies could be hugely beneficial.
Here are 6 features offered on the HAV S1 Series tractor:
1. Future Ready Electric Tractor- The only Hybrid tractor technology in India without battery packs, which has the capability to run on multiple fuel options. The same tractors can be upgraded to a complete electric vehicle, once the infrastructure is in place.
2. Eco Friendly – Farmers can expect to save up to 28% with S1 fuel in comparison to traditional tractors. The S1 uses self-energising technology, and the role of engine here is to only provide current to electric motors and other components.
3. All Wheel Independent Suspension along with height adjustment makes operations easier and more versatile for the operator. The S1 also features MCS (Max Cover Steering) which provides low-level steering input as well as a low turning radius of only 2.7m (Front-Steer, All-Steer, Crab-Steer).
4. Electric PTO along with Electric output to run field equipment like water pumps and even run house electricity up to 40KVA – 3Phase
5. Dynamic, innovative and modern design with interactive steering mounted HMI display. An interactive steering mounted HMI display to control the equipment and further reduce human labour.
6. Several Safety and Comfort features for farmers to have hassle free field work as well as a class leading 10 year limited product warranty.
Will these tractors make it to South Africa? Nothing has been confirmed however growth in the agricultural sector is increasing, investment opportunities are available and with the international interest in the HAV S1 Series we are confident it will be seen in some key international markets.
