5 Things you need to know about the latest telescopic Fendt loader the T740

A telehandler which is also known as a telescopic handler, a teleporter and a boom lift  is widely used in agriculture and industry, especially in distribution centres and development destinations, to move loads to and from places difficult to reach for a traditional forklift. Fendt has offered class leading telehandlers for some time now and their latest offering, the T740 is the most advanced. Here is what you need to know.

1. It sure is versatile

The new T740 has been designed to be as versatile as possible and thus it offers  improved versatility for navigating a range of working environments. The agile and efficient machine is at home in medium-sized mixed operations. The telescopic loader combines a working height of up to 7.70m with high breakaway force, precise control and a viewing height of over four metres. This makes the T740 ideal for agricultural work such as handling straw, transport, feeding or silo removal.

2. Improved cabin with a view

The Fendt Cargo T740 has been fitted with a new generation of TopViewCab which now includes vibration damping. The cab can also be raised to an eye level of 4.10m and thus allows for better viewing when loading trailers or even feeders for example. When manoeuvring the T740, the unrestricted view also increases safety. The front window has been curved from the roof to the floor and is not covered by a dashboard. This gives drivers the best view, up and down. Designers have included an integrated roller blind which protects against direct sunlight and the continuous side window ensures optimum visibility of the attachments, the boom and the surroundings.

3. Easier to control

Another unique feature is the inclusion of an oscillating control console which is integrated on the right side of the driver's seat. This allows for improved operating precision regardless of the environment. Furthermore, the colouring of the operating buttons corresponds to the Fendt logic, so users can quickly find their way. The ergonomics and functions of the joystick have also been optimised for efficiency and ease of use. Another unique element is that if the same cab position is repeatedly required for work operations, this position can be stored via the memory function for easy call-up.

4. Let’s talk power

The new T740 is powered by a 100kW 4-cylinder Cummins engine with a diesel oxidation catalytic converter (DOC), a diesel particle filter (DPF) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR).  The standard speed is 20km/h. Optionally, speeds of 30 or 40km/h are also possible, so that the Fendt Cargo T740 can also be used in transport.

5. Lifting capabilities

The Fendt T740 has been designed to do the job, the job of lifting. The lifting arm of the Fendt Cargo T740 is designed for a maximum load capacity of 4 tons .

The figures are impressive for a telescopic loader within the segment:

  • Charge weight: 9.4 tons
  • Maximum load capacity: 4 tons
  • Max: Lift height: 7.70 m
  • Load capacity at max. height: 2.6 tons
  • Load capacity at max. extent: 1.7 tons
  • Hydraulic power: 170 l/min (working pressure: 300 bar)
  • Hydraulic power: 170 l/min (working pressure: 300 bar)
