4 things you need to know about the Zoomlion PL2304 tractor
As large-scale commercial farming shifts toward high-efficiency, continuous operations, the demand for heavy-duty machinery has never been greater. Enter the Zoomlion PL2304, a 169kW tractor engineered specifically to tackle dryland farming, intensive deep tillage, and heavy-duty seeding.
Developed through collaborative research at Zoomlion’s North American R&D centre, the PL2304 blends international engineering standards with raw power, positioning itself as a formidable player in the high-power segment.
1. Pure Utility
At the heart of this green giant sits a 6-cylinder WP7 turbocharged diesel engine with a massive 7.5-liter displacement. Utilising high-pressure common-rail fuel injection, the power plant delivers 169kW backed by a 36% torque reserve. That extra margin of pull ensures the tractor handles sudden soil resistance without stalling when pulling deep rippers or wide disc harrows through stubborn earth. To keep operations running around the clock, Zoomlion fitted the machine with a generous 400-liter fuel tank, minimising non-productive downtime during tight planting or harvesting windows.
2. Precise Control for Heavy Traction
Raw power requires precise delivery. The PL2304 relies on an automatic 40F+40R interval power-shift transmission, providing an expansive range of gear ratios. Operators can easily pinpoint the exact ground speed required for slow, high-torque tillage, mid-speed planting, or rapid road transit. Translating that engine output to the ground is a planetary-gear front-drive axle equipped with 100% locking and limited-slip differentials. Generating over 7545 kg of maximum tractive effort, the tractor maintains sure-footed grip whether navigating mud-slicked turns or pulling heavy payloads across uneven terrain.
3. Muscle Meets Modern Automation
The PL2304’s muscle extends directly to its rear hitch assembly. Featuring a Category III three-point linkage backed by a split-type electro-hydraulic system, the tractor offers an impressive lifting capacity of 6000 kg - easily handling multi-ton seed drills and soil cultivators. Hydraulic flow is equally capable, delivering a single-channel rate of 110 L/min across four electro-hydraulic proportional valves to power demanding external implements. Small, automated touches highlight the machine’s thoughtful design. The tractor features an automatic Power Take-Off (PTO) routine that automatically disengages power to the implement when raised at headlands, re-engaging seamlessly once lowered back into the soil. This single feature eliminates repetitive operator steps while protecting drive shafts and implement gearboxes from unnecessary wear.
4. The Operator's Command Centre
Long shifts require a cab designed for human endurance. The PL2304 features a pressurised, sound-insulated, and climate-controlled cab mounted on a pneumatic suspension system to cushion the operator against rough ground movement. At the centre of the dash is a digital touchscreen display providing live telemetry, system health diagnostics, camera feeds, and real-time fault identification. For farms moving toward precision agriculture, the PL2304 arrives ready to integrate GPS navigation and automatic steering options, allowing operations to reduce overlap and maximize fuel efficiency across every acre.
