Fuso FA 9-137 is first truck imported from India, ideal for Southern African applications

The Fuso FA 9-137 is a new light to medium-duty truck unveiled by Fuso Trucks Southern Africa, a division of Daimler Trucks & Buses.

First import from India

With the addition of FA 9-137, the Fuso range is expanding.  It is the first vehicle to be imported from the Daimler India Commercial Vehicle (DICV) plant in Chennai, India, and will set the pace for more India-sourced products.  These Indian-produced trucks are engineered for export various markets.

Mitsubishi Fuso trucks are manufactured in South Africa by Mercedes-Benz South Africa (part of the Daimler group).

Versatile applications

The Fuso FA 9-137 has already been launched in other markets, it is said to be proving its mettle with trusted quality, efficiency and functional design. 

It can fulfil various applications as transporter in the Southern African economy, such as general distribution, courier, bakery, rental and light tipping – bodies include dropside, van/box freight carrier, curtain side, aerial platform, cherry picker, crane, water drilling, tanker and light-duty tipper.  GVM is 9.6 tons, allowing a 5-ton payload.

The well-known Fuso Canter is the basis for the FA 9-137.  A newly-developed 4D37 engine displaces 3907cc (3.9 litres) and outputs 100kW and 420Nm, driven through a 6-speed manual gearbox and 4x2 rear-wheel drive.

Comfortable cabin

The cabin was designed for comfort, with doors that open 70 degrees, and a cabin that tilts at 45 degrees for easy access to maintenance.

Occupants are made to feel at home, with twin co-driver seating with headrests and cup holders.  The Fuso FA 9-137 also has a sliding rear window, tilt and reach adjustable steering wheel, smooth gear shift, and demister with air conditioner.
