Changan ups the ante with new Minivan

 

Business users needing to transport loads and passengers safely are now fully catered for with the Changan Minivan, available either as a two-seater or a five-seater and capable of carrying a 1-ton payload.

The Chinese brand has been active in the local market for a number of years and its low-cost solutions for small business users have seen its popularity grow in leaps and bounds.

The latest STAR III series boasts three model derivatives – a Single Cab, Double Cab and Minivan. Since the popular Star II series, some changes and upgrades have been implemented.

The original ‘box-shaped’ model was upgraded to a much more modern curvy design and the 1 243 cc engine now has an output of 72 Kw and 119 Nm of torque, yet returns a fuel consumption of just 6,5 l/100 km.

The warranty has been upgraded to 3 years/ 100 000 km and the Single Cab brags with the biggest load bin in its class – an impressive 2,74 m – while the Minivan has a load area that is 1,3 m wide.

Canopies to fit the Single and Double Cab are in production, should you need to transport your 1-ton load in a closed box. Currently, a canopy is offered as a promotional extra, should you choose to opt for this.
