2018 Volvo XC40 D4 AWD R-Design - Review

We drive the 2018 Volvo XC40 D4 AWD in R-Design trim and walk away suitably impressed, even if the engine and gearbox combination was a little bit of a let down.

The Volvo XC40 D4 AWD R-Design is the latest offering to join the Compact Luxury SUV fray, going up against the likes of the BMW X2, Audi Q2, Jaguar E-PACE, Mercedes-Benz GLC and the likes.

Carrying over some of the DNA from the award0-winning XC90, the compact, yet spacious XC40 offers a whole lot of vehicle for the money.

We climbed behind the wheel to see if it did anything better than the others, wondering if we would be able to justify the rather stiff price tag. We walked away surprised.
