The Volvo XC60 followed on the XC90 as the second in the Swedish company’s full-sized SUV range. The XC60, a size smaller than the impressive XC90, made its debut here in 2009, and this model was retained (after a mid-life 2014 facelift) until the end of 2017.

The new-generation Volvo XC60 made its public debut at the 2017 Geneva show and in 2018 it won the coveted World Car of the Year award. It was introduced in South Africa in 2018.
Engine varieties
The earlier generations of XC60s came with a variety of engines, including five-cylinder and six-cylinder variants in diesel and petrol form. The latest-generation XC60s come only with four-cylinder engines, in two-litre four-cylinder configuration. However, these are available in both petrol and diesel form. There is quite a difference in power outputs. The entry model diesel version starts at 140 kW, whereas the turbocharged-and-supercharged petrol engine, fitted to the range-topping T6 AWD models, is endowed with an impressive 235 kW!
Trim levels and price variants
The current XC60 is available in 12 different models. There are three trim levels, namely the Momentum (base model), Inscription (luxury) and R-Design. The R-Design is the more sporty option. The current pricing starts at R687 100 for the XC60 D4 AWD Momentum, and tops out at R815 700 for the XC60 T6 AWD R-Design.
Options make price establishment difficult
There have traditionally been a number of options available for the Volvo XC60 and this may make valuing your particular used XC60 difficult. Options fitted to some of the more entry-level versions can add over R100 000 to the price. Many of these are very worthy options, however, such as the driver-assistance options, which offer a fair degree of autonomous driving capability.
