The AutoTrader What's it Worth tool is perfect for getting an estimated price on your car. By entering the make, model and year, it will display the average advertised price of your car. In this article we list the various models of the Suzuki Swift.
The Suzuki Swift has been building momentum in this market ever since it was introduced here back in 2008. Now in its third generation in South Africa (it was available for some years prior to this in Europe), the Swift has gained an enviable reputation for build quality, reliability and fuel economy.
The latest generation Swift was introduced in June 2018 and since then Swift sales have been really strong. Currently the car is selling at a rate of close to 500 units a month, which can only be good for used values, as the Swift model brand gains popularity.
Model evolution
It is interesting that when the Swift was introduced here in 2008 it had a 1,5-litre engine producing 74 kW. The following generation Swift saw the engine size decrease to 1,4-litres and 70 kW, although a special Swift Sport 1,6-litre model with 100 kW was introduced as a halo performance model.
During this second generation cycle, an affordable 1,2 litre model was also introduced. The latest (current) generation sees all three models powered by a 1,2-litre 61 kW engine. However, the body weight of the car has also been reduced progressively to its current 875 kg, which means performance has remained largely unchanged. It is noted for its excellent, real-world fuel consumption of between 5,0 and 5,5 litres/100 km.
