Here we get a fix on what your Peugeot 3008 is worth. We examine the model history  in brief, and give a year-by-year guide to current average re-sale prices, starting with the 2010 models.

The Peugeot 3008 was introduced here in 2010 and immediately drew lots of controversy, mainly due to its dramatic frontal styling. It had a very prominent radiator grille which gave it a “mouth-full-of-teeth” appearance, but the 3008  also turned quite a few people on to the benefits of driving what was then a fairly new concept in vehicles – the so-called Cross Over.

In particular, the 3008 offered plenty of space, lots of storage options  and a unique horizontally-split tailgate which made loading very easy.

First-gen engines

The first batch of 3008s in South  Africa came with a choice of three engines. The base-model used a naturally-aspirated 1,6-litre engine producing a moderate 88 kW, while the mid-line THP models employed  a 115 kW version of Peugeot’s turbocharged 1,6-litre four-cylinder engine. The range-topper was the diesel 2.0 HDI with 110 kW and 340 Nm. All were front-wheel-drive models.

2014 face lift

In March 2014, Peugeot South Africa announced a comprehensive face-lift, which introduced new sliver-like head lights and a grille that substituted “floating” subtle slats for the “toothy” look of the earlier models. The engine range remained the same with 1,6-litre non-turbo and 1,6-litre turbo petrol engines, and the 2.0 HDI turbodiesel still fitted to the top model.

Sales of the 3008 were reasonable in 2014, but in 2015 and 2016 Peugeot South Africa  was undergoing a restructuring and very few sales of the 3008 were recorded in this period, with the model being dropped from the price lists in 2016.

Second generation 3008

That all changed with the launch of the second-generation and current 3008. This car made a huge splash in its home market, taking the 2017 European Car of the Year title, and in 2017 the 3008 was once again on sale here. It was a finalist in the 2018 South African Car of the year competition.

Sales are still moderate, weighing in at about 30 to 40 units each month, but the 3008 is seen as a very stylish Cross Over, a category that has now gained huge acceptance since the 3008 was  launched here nine years ago as one of the first Cross Overs in this market.

The overall Peugeot 3008 image is now perceived to be ultra-chic, and the 3008 boasts one of the most modern and eye-catching interiors of any new car. Of particular note is the integrated steering wheel and instrument panel adjustment system. If you lower the steering wheel, or raise it, the instrument panel is also lowered or raised!

Current range

The current rage of the Peugeot 3008 consists of three engines once again.  The entry model is the 1.2T Active with 96 kW from its 1 199 cc three-cylinder engine. Then come the 1.6T models in Active and Allure trim, this engine now  boosted to 121 kW and 240 Nm of torque. This engine is also fitted to the special 1.6 GT Line model, the top-of-the-range Peugeot 3008. The 110 kW 2.0 HDI turbodiesel is still available in Active and Allure trim.

So, how much is your used Peugeot 3008 worth?

We surveyed our currently listed Peugeot 3008s to give you an idea of prices for the various model years ranging from 2010 to 2018. We didn’t include 2019 models, as prices here included almost- new models and very low-mileage demo models, and a relevant depreciation pattern has yet to be established for these cars that are less than six months old.

There are no listings for models in 2015 and 2016, indicating the period when Peugeot was undergoing restructuring here in South Africa, and although the 3008 was still price-listed in 2015, very few models were recorded as sales.

The prices we list below are an average of the models  currently listed for sale in Auto Trader, and these prices don’t take into account model and trim variants, and any options fitted. Pricing is also affected, obviously, by condition and mileage covered.
