What is covered under a Jaguar XF manufacturer car warranty?

The Jaguar XF is the largest saloon in Jaguar model line-up, we find out what is covered in the manufacturer warranty.

Car Ownership

The current Jaguar XF has been around locally since 2016 but has subsequently seen updates and new engine derivatives added as well as the performance-oriented XF S. The XF was a great new step in the British automaker's design language and have seeped over on to other models in the line-up.

The Jaguar XF competes in a segment which is dominated by German offerings and struggled to gain traction in sales. And it is also not for a lack of trying, the XF Chequered Flag edition features all the latest tech and styling as well as power to go up against the very best. The Jaguar XF then is a good option to consider if you are considering a vehicle in this segment, but what if things go wrong? Are you covered?

What is included?

Your Jaguar XF comes standard with a 5-year / 100 000 km warranty and 5-year / 100 000 km maintenance plan. This adds excellent value to the offering and peace of mind if something did go wrong. Corrosion or perforation warranties typically consist of 6-years / unlimited-kilometres.

What is covered exactly?

Warranties are in place to cover workmanship, manufacture and parts. What this means is that if a component was manufactured wrong, installed wrong or just fail within the warranty period, Jaguar will repair or replace that part on the vehicle. This includes interior, mechanical and powertrain components but requires the owner to honour the service intervals applicable to the vehicle at a certified Jaguar dealership. Jaguar will also not replace or repair any components that have sustained accident damage or are in any way modified or tampered with by anyone outside of the certified dealership technicians.

What is not covered?

While most components between the front and rear bumper will be covered, some items do not make it on the list. The items in questions are usually components that wear with use such as brake pads, brake discs, clutches and tyres. However, owners should keep an eye out as some of these items will be covered in the service/maintenance plan and will be replaced when due. Tyres, however, will still not feature on this list but tyres usually carry their own manufacturer warranty.

Can I inherit the warranty on a used vehicle?

In short, yes. If you are purchasing a used vehicle that is younger than 5-years and have less than 100 000 km on the odometer, you can transfer the warranty into your name when you visit your closest Jaguar dealership. If a vehicle falls outside of the warranty period or has exceeded the maximum mileage, owners can still visit a Jaguar dealership and inquire about an extended warranty.
