The correct tyre pressures for the Volkswagen Polo Vivo range from February 2018 to present

The Volkswagen Polo Vivo  is the most popular range of cars currently on sale in South Africa. Since it was launched in 2010 it has been a top seller and to date over 200 000 Polo Vivos have been produced at Volkswagen South Africa’s  Uitenhage plant. Polo Vivo is the only A0 segment car that is locally produced.

Since February 2018 the new-generation Polo Vivo has been in production and it is selling as well as its predecessors, again  out-stripping any other competitor. Monthly sales are well over the 2 000 mark. The current line-up features only the hatchback derivative. This car is based on the fifth-generation Polo, which was on sale here until the end of 2017, and it is thus a completely new model, but obviously shares many characteristics with the previous-generation Polo.

It is interesting that in the current line-up, there is no Polo Vivo sedan, as there was previously.

Currently  six Polo Vivo hatchback models are produced, ranging from the entry-model Polo Vivo 1.4 Trendline to the top-of-the-range Polo Vivo 1.0 TSI GT.

Volkswagen currently only lists one set of tyre pressure variants for all six models. The tyre pressure sticker is located on the inside of the fuel filler flap.

Volkswagen differentiates between “Comfort” and “Sport/ Economy “settings. The Sport/Economy setting features higher pressures, as harder tyres suffer less sidewall flex during harder cornering, which one would prefer for sportier driving. Harder tyres (more highly inflated) also have less rolling resistance, which is good for economy, hence the “Sport/Economy" listing here.

Tyre pressures are listed as follows:

Comfort with one to two occupants:                                    2,3 Bar front, 2,1 Bar rear

Comfort with five occupants and luggage:                        2,5 Bar front, 2,1 Bar rear

Sport/Economy with two occupants:                                   2,6 Bar front, 2,4 Bar rear

Sport/Economy with five occupants and luggage:        2,6 Bar front, 2,7 Bar rear
