If your previous generation RAV4 is giving you electrical power issues, changing out the car battery may solve all your problems. We show you how in a few easy steps.

High Power

The latest incarnation of the RAV4 has recently been released for our market that means that there should be a surplus of second-hand models floating about for sale. If you happen to purchase one of these models and it begins to have power issues you may be due for a new battery. You can save yourself a trip to a battery shop by changing out the battery yourself in a matter of minutes and we can show you how.

You will need:

  • A new battery
  • 10mm, 13mm, 14mm socket, socket wrench and extension
  • 10mm, 12mm and 13mm wrenches (depending on year model)

Let's get started!

  1. Open the bonnet and locate the battery
  2. Using the correct socket and extension, remove the bolt and retaining plate that holds the battery in place.
  3. Pull the battery forward and using your 10mm wrench, remove the negative terminal and then the positive terminal
  4. Remove battery.
  5. Place the new battery into positionRav4
  6. Replace retainers, power cables and covers in reverse order.
