Refresh your S6
The S6 from Audi is one of the best sports sedans you can get from the German automaker. In order to keep its sportiness on the boil it needs to have a good working battery and charging system. Vehicles fitted with City Start/Stop have two batteries, but we will concentrate on the main power unit.

Replacing a battery can become an expensive labour exercise but with just a bit of elbow grease and the cars own toolkit, we can show you how to do it in less than an hour.
You will need:
- New AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery for your model (must comply with VW75073 low voltage system)
- 10mm Spanner
Let's get started!
1. Open the boot.
2. Lift the boot floor up by the handle and clip it to the underside of the deck lid with the built in clip.
3. Lift out the spare wheel cover.
4. Remove the spare wheel retaining nut and remove the spare.
5. Locate the battery. Some older models will have a large hold down bracket that covers the battery, this will need to be removed.
6. Using the 10mm spanner loosen off the nuts off the hold down bracket and remove it.
7. Use the 10mm spanner to remove the negative terminal.
8. Use the 10mm spanner again to remove the positive terminal.
9. Remove the battery.
10. Install new battery and replace all the terminals and brackets in reverse order. Ensure vent tubes are properly connected
You will need to reset the charge management system with a diagnostic machine to ensure that the battery properly charges. If you cannot access a machine, you will need to take the vehicle to Audi to have this done. Failure to do so will drastically reduce further battery life.
