Step by step guide on how to replace a tyre on your Audi A1 by yourself.
Requirements
Jack
Wrench
Spare wheel
Step-by-step guide
1. If you have a blow-out or a puncture while travelling, turn on your hazard lights and pull over to the side of the road where it's safe.
- Remember to pull up your parking brake and have all passengers exit the vehicle.
2. Take out your wrench, jack, and spare wheel from the boot and put it where you need it.
3. Use your wrench to loosen the wheel nuts/bolts slightly.
- Always loosen the wheel nuts slightly BEFORE jacking the car.
4. Using the jack, lift your car off the ground. The tyre should be at least 15 cm off the ground.
5. Loosen the nuts fully and pull the tyre in a direction that is straight towards you to remove it from the base.
- Keep your wheel nuts safe and secure and make sure they don’t roll away.
6. Place the spare wheel on the base and push it all the way back until it can’t go any further.
7. Place your wheel nuts in and secure them just enough to hold the wheel comfortably to the car.
8. Using the jack, lower your A1 back to the ground and remove the jack.
9. Now tighten the wheel nuts as much as you can.
10. Place your flat tyre and tools back in your boot and you can make your way back onto the road.
