How to replace a lightbulb on a Volvo XC90

We show you how to replace a headlight bulb on a first generation Volvo XC90

The Swedes are well known for their safety levels in the Volvo, but they are also very efficient. Replacing a headlight bulb is actually very easy. In just a few steps you can quickly change out a bulb without having to book your car in for a service, and we are going to show you how its done on the first generation Volvo's from 2004 to 2007.

You will need:

 

  • Replacement bulbs for your year and model
  • Philips screwdriver
  • Soft cloth

 

 

Let's get it done

 

1. Open the bonnet.

 

2. Remove the two retainer rods.

 

3. Pull the headlight assembly forward and remove.

 

4. Using the Phillips screwdriver, remove the retaining screw from the bulb cover

 

6. Rotate the bulb connecter to remove from the assembly.

 

5. Change the bulb and reassemble in reverse order.

(DO NOT touch the glass of the glass of the bulbs, as oils from your skin can affect longevity of new bulbs, Clean with a soft cloth)

 

8. Test system to ensure correct operation.
