How to replace a lightbulb on a Mercedes-Benz E-Class

We show you how to replace the headlight bulbs on the W211 generation of E-Class

In 2015 Mercedes-Benz began fitting LED headlights as a standard feature on the E-Class. Before that, the W211 vehicles came with HID's or standard fitment bulbs. These standard bulbs are not overly difficult to replace but space will be at a premium so smaller hands will be an advantage.

We show how to do this without removing the headlight assembly's

 

You will need:

  • Correct replacement bulbs for your year model
  • Soft cloth

 

Let's get it done

 

1. Open the bonnet

 

2. Locate the cover one the back of the headlight and rotate anti-clockwise to remove

 

3. Rotate the bulb anti-clockwise to unclip and remove from the headlight 

 

4. Exchange bulb being careful to remove oily residue left behind by your fingers with the cloth

 

5. Reassemble and repeat on opposite side
