How to replace a headlight bulb on a Fiat 500

With space at a premium in the Fiat 500's engine bay, changing the headlight bulbs may seem challenging at first but never fear, we have you covered with our step by step guide on how to tackle this DIY job right at home.

It's safe to say that the compact nature of Fiat's 500 model guarantees that doing any work in the engine bay is going to require a set of very small hands and a lot of patience. replacing the headlights is not that difficult a task but will require both of the aforementioned skills. FCA engineers allowed just enough space behind each of the headlight pods to squeeze a hand in and do the requisite maintenance.

It is a straightforward job, requires no tools and can be done in a relatively short period of time right at home.

You will need:

• Replacement bulb(s) of the correct wattage and amperage.

Let's do this!

1. Open the bonnet
2. Locate the area behind the headlights
3. There is a plastic cap, remove this by turning a quarter turn and remove the cap
4. This will expose the rear of the bulb housing and the wiring harness.
5. Unclip the wiring harness from the bulb.
6. Remove the bulb by turning a quarter turn and carefully sliding the bulb out of the housing.
7. Install new bulb, wiring harness and cover cap in reverse order.
8. Repeat on opposite side and test to ensure everything is in working order.

Pro Tip: DO NOT touch the new bulb with your bare fingers as it transfers oils from your fingertips that will burn onto the glass of the new bulbs.
